how can you believe in God?

I often thought as a kid, “is there a God?” I rarely went to church, but had my own Bible (albeit the King James Version). I tried reading the Bible, but to no avail.

I attended school and heard what the science teachers said about evolution, but it didn’t make sense. I mean if we evolved from apes, why are there still apes? Furthermore, how can “abnormal” changes to a species survive (we know medically that abnormal diseases that affect people cause them to die prematurely – not out survive the rest of us).

Finally after twenty years of life, my little engineering mind figured it all out. There IS a God – a loving God who sent His son to die so that we can have eternal life. I therefore urge you:

1 “Come, let us return to the LORD.
 3 Let us acknowledge the LORD;
       let us press on to acknowledge him.
       As surely as the sun rises,
       he will appear;
       he will come to us like the winter rains,
       like the spring rains that water the earth.” – Hosea 6:1,3

It is interesting how God led me to this passage this morning, on the morning following all the rains that have poured into the Southeast, causing severe flooding in TN.

The evidence of His glory is everywhere – unfortunately, like me as a child, many of us choose to ignore all of His signs.
