I find it interesting that so much culture throughout the world is based on Biblical records, yet there are still unbelievers throughout the world. For example: ever wonder where the term ‘doubting Thomas’ came from?
When Jesus was resurrected three days after His crucifixion:
Thomas, one of the Twelve, called the Twin, was not with them when Jesus came. So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord.” But he said to them, “Unless I see in his hands the mark of the nails, and place my finger into the mark of the nails, and place my hand into his side, I will never believe.”
Eight days later, his disciples were inside again, and Thomas was with them. Although the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.” Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here, and see my hands; and put out your hand, and place it in my side. Do not disbelieve, but believe.”
Thomas answered him, “My Lord and my God!” Jesus said to him, “Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” John 20:24-29
Are you a doubting Thomas? Do you still not believe the Good News of the Bible? The Good News that Jesus died for YOU. The Good news that is FREE to receive; the news that Jesus was sent, as the Son of God to save us from our sins. All we have to do is believe in Him, accept Him as our Lord and Savior.
Maybe you know God, but are like some of the disciples:
Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted. – Matthew 28:16-17
Why do you doubt? The Bible is TRUE; everything in it is truthful. God gave us the Bible so that we could come to the full knowledge of Him and have eternal life. We’ve had the Bible for almost 2000 years and it has withstood the testing of innumerable critics. There have been many that have tried to disprove it, but no one has, because it can’t be done.
If you haven’t come to know God, there is no better time than NOW! Come to Him today and ask Him to be Lord of your life.
