Here’s your sign

Later, Jesus sat on the Mount of Olives. His disciples came to him privately and said, “Tell us, when will all this happen? What sign will signal your return and the end of the world?”

In light of the coming New Year

In light of the coming New Year, I thought it only appropriate to remember what God has to say:

For this is what the Lord says – God is the Creator of the heavens. He formed the earth and made it; He established it; He did not create it to be empty, but formed it to be inhabited. “I am the Lord and there is no other.” – Isaiah 45:18

Who’s team you on?

When I moved to Alabama in 1986, the first thing my neighborhood kids asked me was “Are you an Alabama or an Auburn fan?” Today, I still vividly remember that question. They didn’t ask me my name or where I was from, just what team I was rooting for. As someone that didn’t follow Alabama football, I couldn’t make an intelligent decision at the time.

Christ is Christmas

Matthew 1:21
“And she will bring forth a Son,
and you shall call His name Jesus,
for He will save His people from their sins.”

For unto us…

For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. – Isaiah 9:6

Psalm 18:46

The Lord Lives! Praise to My Rock!

May the God of my salvation be exalted!

You might be a redneck if…

We have enjoyed the “redneck jokes” for years. It’s time to take a reflective look at the core beliefs of a culture that values home, family, country and God.

Peace on earth, goodwill…

As we enter the Christmas season, it’s not uncommon to hear “Peace on Earth” or “Goodwill toward men.” But where did those phrases originate?

Luke 2:14 (New King James Version)
“ Glory to God in the highest,
And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”

Run NOW!

One Sunday morning during service, a thousand member congregation was surprised to see two men enter, both covered from head to toe in black and carrying what looked like sub-machine guns. One of the men proclaimed, “Anyone willing to take a bullet for Christ remain where you are, otherwise now is your chance to leave, run…RUN NOW!” Immediately, most of the choir fled, most deacons ran out, and most all of the congregation immediately left the building.
