The Christmas story – Part Six

Makes me stop and think. What have I asked for that God is waiting on me to pray the “right” prayer before He answers it…. What about you? Is there something you have been repeatedly praying for, but need to stop and pray for what God wants first?

The Christmas Story – Part Five

Look at our money “In God We Trust” – are you exercising that thought in your daily living? Or are you exercising trust in science which changes everyday with “new” technology and understanding of nature? Continue reading

The Christmas Story – Part Four

My challenge to each of us today is to find one thing to improve in our lives to make us more Christ-like. Once we accomplish this improvement in our life we can take another bite. What will you do differently today for God? By doing this we can start preparing ourselves for the Lord.

Thr Christmas Story – Part Three

The larger reason for liking this passage is because of the truth it reveals: “your prayer has been heard.” God HEARS our prayers – all of them. In the case of Zechariah’s prayer, the Lord granted Zechariah’s prayer. Continue reading

The Christmas story – Part Two

I stopped at this point, because I feel there is something we can learn from this brief part of the Christmas story. It is obedience. Although Zechariah was chosen by chance to be the priest to offer incense at the altar, we find in the following passage that he quickly obeyed and entered the sanctuary to burn the incense as instructed. He didn’t doubt, he didn’t pause – he immediately obeyed.

Thank God I’m alive!

Yesterday, during a long 6.5 hour drive (which normally takes 5-5.5 hours), I realized once again the importance of life. During my drive, I saw probably 5 bad accidents being cleaned up. You may have heard about or seen the show “I shouldn’t be alive.” Well, during my drive yesterday, I was almost in a horrible traffic accident. Continue reading

The Son of God – the appointed one

This morning I had the opportunity to spend some time in the Greek Testament studying Romans 1. What I found was interesting as it relates to who Jesus is.

the gospel He promised beforehand through his prophets in the Holy Scriptures 3 regarding His Son, who as to His earthly life[a] was a descendant of David, 4 and who through the Spirit of holiness was appointed the Son of God in power[b] by His resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord. 5 Through Him we received grace and apostleship to call all the Gentiles to the obedience that comes from[c] faith for His name’s sake. 6 And you also are among those Gentiles who are called to belong to Jesus Christ.

Be saved!

Sometimes we need help understanding Scripture. Other times, Scripture is real clear….

“Turn to me and be saved,
all you ends of the earth;
for I am God, and there is no other.” – Isaiah 45:22

Followin’ God

As I ponder the end of the ages and the return of Jesus Christ, I am reminded that not only do we finally get to see Jesus face to face, spend eternity in Heaven, and so many other great and wonderful things, there is still ONE MORE THING:

Paul tells the members in the church at Philippi:

And I am sure of this, that He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. (Philippians 1:6)…

the love of God

The love of God surpasses ALL understanding.

Romans 5:5-8 God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. . . . But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
