Psalm 19:1-7

The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure… Psalm 19:1-7

God’s love . . .

This week in New Orleans I have had the opportunity to meet some new fellow students in class. We have had many discussions about our worship class, but also about our families and personal lives. Through this, I have been reminded about one of my favorite Scripture verses:

Psalm 127:3 – Behold, children are a gift from the LORD

Coincidence, I think Not!

I continue to be amazed by God! Tonight, the youth lesson was about Jesus’ power of Salvation & how we should tell our lost friends about Him so they can have eternal life. We sang “By His Wounds” THEN…in big church, we sang “Nothing but the blood of Jesus,” & the pastor reminded us to tell our friends about Jesus. I’m famous for the line: “If it’s repeated in the Bible, it MUST be really important!” Then I must ask, if TWO sermons, by different people are repeated the SAME night in church, ISN’T THAT MESSAGE REALLY IMPORTANT ALSO?

and the greatest is …

faith, hope, love, . . . but the greatest of these is love. 1 Cor 13:13

As I wonder exactly why Paul chose “love,” I think it becomes clear…

the love of God

When you love someone what do you do?

Talk to them, tell them “I love you”
Spend time with them
Get to know them
Do things THEY want to do
Include THEM in things you like to do

1 John 4:7-8 states: God is Love
 “Love” originates in God
Love can never fail (see 1 Corinthians 13:8)
However…non-Christians are separated from this love, so [...]

what is this thing called “faith” ?

A wise man once said: trusting in God is hard, but trusting in oneself is futile.

Faith isn’t easy to come by, it takes time. There was a time I didn’t have faith…

Patience…

Wow, that little word puts a lot of people on edge. We ask for it (patience that is), but then we are impatient in waiting to receive our request. So what does patience have to do with Scripture? Let’s see how this passage about patience puts a twist into our thoughts:

a song…

I love contemporary Christian songs (don’t get me wrong – Hymns are good too).
But one got in my head today as I read through the book of Psalms, as I was reminded how neat it is that a lot of the songs we sing are based directly from Scripture.

Psalm 100

I simply wanted to remind everyone to thank God today:

Psalm 100 – A psalm for giving thanks.
 1 Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth.
2 Worship the LORD with gladness;
       come before him with joyful songs.
 3 Know that the LORD is God.
       It is he who made us, and we are his;
       we are [...]

What are you waiting for?

Today, as I attempted to get my stuff done, I asked God what I should blog about. The answer? Are you getting “the right” stuff done?
